THE VILLAGE of Roses, a bay with 3000 years of history, with a Mediterranean essence and a marked tourist and seafaring tradition.
It is in a unique natural setting: in the north of the Costa Brava, less than 30 km from the French border, 65 km from Girona and 160 km from Barcelona.
Its origins date back to the 8th century BC, with the foundation of the Greek city of Rhodes. These events have influenced the identity of a modern, culturally active, and generous city, the result of coexistence with other peoples and civilisations.
THE SURROUNDINGS, its beaches, and coves with their transparent waters, where families and children can enjoy themselves, while water sports enthusiasts have the opportunity to windsurf, kayak or scuba dive, a particular extension of beaches and coves with a coastal path that borders them, the activities, beauty, nature and rest in which games and sports coexist with sunbathing and relaxation. The large expanses of green areas surrounding the town are also a unique environment and offer the possibility of practising activities such as hiking or cycling.
The promenade of Roses runs along the entire beach. At the western end there is a square with benches and vegetation offering spectacular views of the adjacent Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de l'Empordà.
